San Antonio DB says Miners

San Antonio Madison safety Mario Wiggins has made his decision.
After only playing in three games as a junior due to a collarbone injury, the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder had a solid spring and received his first scholarship offer a few weeks ago. This week, he decided to not delay his decision.

"I got an offer from UTEP two weeks ago and I verbally committed to them this week," Wiggins said. "I've been looking at them for a while. The program is up and coming and they have good coaches.
"I feel like I can make a difference over there."
Wiggins, a 5-foot-11, 186-pounder, had 36 tackles in the last three games of the season.
"I broke my collarbone and then I came back," he said. "I feel like I could have done better, but that's how it goes."
As for playing time, Wiggins says he hasn't talked about it yet with the coaches but says he'll work hard to hit the field as early as possible. He was being recruited by UTEP coach Jeff Woodruff.
