Sampy enjoys visit to Ames

Galena Park, Texas, wide receiver Johnny Sampy has returned from his first official visit feeling pretty good.
"I went to Iowa State this weekend," the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Sampy said. "It went pretty good. The entire thing was a good experience. I saw the school, the facilities, the players and the coaches.

"I got to sit down and talk to coach (Dan) McCarney about the program. He tried to show me how good of a school it is, and how good their program is. He was telling me very good things about Iowa State. He didn't pressure me to commit or anything."
Sampy only has one other visit on the calendar as of now.
"Missouri is having me come down December 19," he said. "That's all I have set up. I'm looking forward to taking that visit."
Sampy is being recruited as a pass catcher by both the Cyclones and the Tigers, but in a different sort.
"Iowa State is recruiting me as a tight end," he said. "Missouri is recruiting me for wide receiver and they've told me possibly tight end. It doesn't matter."
