Sampson makes five for Westfield

Spring Westfield safety Nick Sampson has had a decorated career as a two-year starter for the Mustangs. His three official offers puts Westfield with five Division I prospects going into the 2007 season.
Sampson has been offered by Houston, Arizona State and SMU, joining defensive backs Herman Mitchell, Brodrick Brown, tight end Jonathan Gimm and offensive lineman Brenel Myers.

"I can't explain why we have so many prospects, but I know that we all work hard and get in the weightroom," Sampson said. "Our coaches put the best players out there to perform and we just work on getting a little better each day."
Sampson was a second-team, all-district selection as a junior and had five interceptions. He also runs for the Mustang track team and has impressed at several one-day camps.
"Right now my leader is Houston," Sampson said. "I also like Nebraska, but I haven't heard from them much. I've been to a Houston one-day camp and will be at the UTEP camp later in the month.
"I'm really looking for the best fit academically and athletically. I want to get this over by the middle of the season."
