Sampson adding offers, staying open

Things certinaly haven't been quiet on the recruiting front for North Mesquite (Texas) High School receiver Lanear Sampson recently.
After a very strong spring, Sampson added his first scholarship offers quickly from schools such as Arizona, Duke, Nebraska, Wisconsin, North Texas, and Rice. Just within the last week, the 6-foot, 192-pounder found out that those offers will most likely not be his last.

"I know I got a verbal offer from Virginia last week," Sampson said. "Then, Iowa State, they're supposed to offer. They have to meet back with the coaches on Tuesday and they'll probably be sending an offer this week.
"It's been really good. I'm just trying to stay humble about it."
Sampson's junior season included 24 receptions for 425 yards and four touchdowns despite sharing the receiving duties with other talented receivers such as Daymond Patterson.
Though the recruiting process has started relatively quickly for Sampson, he's not naming favorites just yet.
"I don't have a top school right now," he said. "I probably won't have a favorite or anything like that until close to the end of the summer. That way I can evaluate each school during the summer and go to their campuses."
Camps are up next and Sampson says he's definitely looking to get to events at Oklahoma and Oklahoma State over the next few weeks. He's also trying to make plans for a trip to Duke.
There will be other visits this summer most likely, but Sampson isn't sure of any other set dates. All of these trips are leading up to a preseason decision.
"If I can do then, I will," he said. "If I'm still not sure, I'll wait. I'm going to be look at the education each school provides and after that, it's really just about a school I feel comfortable with and then also playing time."
