Sammons set for first official visit

The recruiting process started very early for 6-foot-6, 260-pound Prince Sammons, a four-star prospect out of Cincinnati (Ohio) Hills Christian Academy, and he has accumulated more than 20 scholarship offers. Sammons made several visits during his junior year, but has been pretty quiet about his recruitment throughout. This upcoming weekend, though, the No. 20 ranked strongside defensive end in the 2016 class will take his first official visit of the recruiting process.

WHAT'S NEXT? Sammons had a bye weekend in his team's schedule come up, allowing him to make the trip to Oregon this weekend. He will be making the trip solo, but it will likely be the only official visit he while his season is still in progress. Other official visits are expected to be scheduled in November or December with a winter decision likely.
QUOTABLE: "(Oregon) has been a school that has kept good communication with him. That is a school that just seemed to kind of connect with him. When our schedule opened up, we looked at it, saw they had a home game, they said they could host him on an official and that might be (his) only opportunity to get out there and see what it is before you might make a decision," said Prince's father, Brandon Sammons.
RIVALS' REACTION: This will actually be the second time Prince will be able to see Oregon play live this season. He visited Michigan State on Sept. 12 when the Spartans hosted the Ducks. Prince's father said the four-star defensive end was soaking up the atmosphere in East Lansing during that game and the Spartans are certainly a contender here as well. Which other schools will factor into this recruitment still remains to be seen. Prince has always played his recruitment close to the vest and his father said that while he has identified some other top schools, he is keeping those to himself for now.
