Sam to take one more trip

Buford, Ga., receiver Lorne Sam has been listed as a solid Florida State commitment for quite some time, but now it’s looking like that commitment might not be solid after all. In fact, Sam has lined up at least one more visit and is now considered a soft commitment.
“I’m heading up to Virginia Tech this weekend,” Sam, who is 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, said. “The thing about Virginia Tech is that they said I could come in and play quarterback for them. The other schools recruited me as an athlete/receiver.

“Florida State said I could get a shot at quarterback, but Virginia Tech wants me for quarterback only.”
Sam said he remains “pretty solid” on his commitment to the Noles, but he did admit that he’s heading up to Virginia Tech with an open mind.
“If I go up there thinking that I’m set on Florida State then it would be a waste of everybody’s time,” Sam said. “But I’m interested and going to see what it’s like. I think I could be a good fit in their system because they like athletic quarterbacks.”
Sam said he hopes to catch a plane to Virginia Tech early Saturday morning after his second-round playoff game against Mt. Zion-Carroll.
