Sam taking his time

Allen (Texas) linebacker Christian Sam saw his recruitment begin with a bang at the start of 2013.
Fresh off a state championship run with his Allen Eagle teammates the 6-2, 205-pound defensive standout began to see the offers pour in. First came SMU and Boise State. Then there were Baylor and Texas Tech. Oklahoma offered shortly after that and Ole Miss and many others quickly followed.

As spring ball begins he continues to receive interest from schools across the country. Cal and Arkansas have stopped by to see spring drills and Michigan State is showing heavy interest.
His focus is currently on spring ball, but he has begun to make plans for the summer. As he begins to makes plans for the summer there are a few destinations already on his schedule.
"This summer I'm hoping to get out to Ole Miss and take a visit back out to Norman and probably Waco for Baylor," Sam said. "We do a 7-on-7 tournament every year in Arkansas so I'll probably do that for sure. Outside of that …whatever comes."
Following spring football Sam hopes to narrow his list in hopes of getting closer to a decision. However, he is not ready to claim any leaders in his recruitment at this point in the process.
"Not as of now. I haven't taken the time to focus, I'm trying to get ready for spring ball," Sam said. "Schools showing a lot of love are OU, Arizona State, Baylor, Arkansas, and Oregon State. They're coming strong."
As for a decision timetable, he is keeping an open mind and does not want to rush into a commitment.
"I haven't really thought about that either," Sam said. "I've always thought it may be nice to commit before the season, but if I don't think I'm ready I won't pull the trigger. I want to be sure 100-percent in my commitment. I don't want to decommit for this or that."
