Sam Houston camp: Top performers

Recruiting wrap: Robison has TCU and SMU at the top of his list.
Performance: Fresh off his Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge performance, Robison was back on the field and in front of college coaches. He did not disappoint. His first few throws were a little behind his target, but he quickly found his stride. His accuracy and ball placement put him a step ahead of the pack. He also threw with plenty of velocity and he did a good job of pushing the ball deep.

DQB
Shawn Robinson (2017)
Denton (Tex.) Guyer
Recruiting wrap: Robinson is keeping an open mind right now, but he is thinking about making a preseason decision.
Performance: There is no doubt about Robinson's arm strength. He throws a strike and it gets to receivers in a hurry. His accuracy was just a tad off at times and that is why he comes in as the No. 2 quarterback on this list. He has the ability to make all the throws and he continues to make strides in the finer points of his throwing mechanics.

S
Robert Barnes (2017)
Southlake (Tex.) Carroll
Recruiting wrap: Barnes currently holds offers from Nebraska, Oregon State, Duke, Iowa, Texas Tech, Boston College, and most recently Oklahoma.
Performance: Barnes is a name to remember. At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, he spent his time at safety. His footwork was quick in drills and he was smooth in transition. During one-on-ones, he used his size to get the best of his opponents, who often times did not even make it off the line. He has the frame to grow into a linebacker, but he showed he had the athletic ability to handle the safety spot too.

WR
Charleston Rambo (2017)
Dallas (Tex.) Woodrow Wilson
Recruiting wrap: Rambo is hearing from Texas Tech the most and he plans to visit Lubbock this summer. BYU is also in the visit plans. Oklahoma offered after camp on Thursday.
Performance: The slender receiver (6-2, 170) had a few issues dealing with some of the physical play by defensive backs, but he learned quickly and made several pay for taking the chance. He was a smooth route runner and did a great job stacking his defender. He made quick adjustments to the ball, and he used his big hands to bring the ball down with ease.

CB
Jared Mayden
Sachse, Tex.
Recruiting wrap: Mayden plans to narrow his list June 24 and announce his commitment at The Opening. Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, and Alabama are four schools to watch.
Performance: Mayden decided to shake things up on Thursday. He spent most of the day at receiver and the athletic ability which has made him so highly recruited was evident. He did step in for a rep at defensive back though. He went head-to-head with Omotosho and delivered a powerful route stopping jam right at the line of scrimmage. Omotosho never recovered and Mayden batted down a short pass over the middle.
7
WR
Aaron Denson
North Richland Hills (Tex.) Richland
Recruiting wrap: Denson currently has an offer from Alcorn State.
Performance: During the morning portion of camp, Denson used a combination of speed and quickness to keep defensive backs off balance. Denson has a muscular build and he handled the press coverage defensive backs tried to throw his way. His feet were the quickest of the morning session and he showed great burst out of his cuts.
8
WR
Camron Buckley (2017)
Cedar Hill, Tex.
Recruiting wrap: Buckley received his first offer from Houston.
Performance: Buckley continues to impress at each camp stop. He was on top of his game once again. His quick footwork and ability to make cuts at full speed allow him to shake up defenders. He makes quick adjustments on the fly and attacks the ball when necessary.
9
ATH
Roshauud Paul (2017)
Bremond, Tex.
Recruiting wrap: Paul committed early to the TCU Horned Frogs.
Performance: Paul is listed as an athlete, and he spent all of his time at wide receiver Thursday. He showed his speed throughout the day and he quickly separated from defenders trying to stay in his hip pocket. One of his best reps came at the end of one-on-ones when he separated from the defender, only to slam on the brakes and return to out jump the defender for the catch.
10
DE
Gary Overshown
Mesquite (Tex.) Horn
Recruiting wrap: Several schools have shown interest. He is keeping an open mind, but he admits Iowa, Minnesota, Texas State, and Colorado State have caught his attention.
Performance: From several yards away, Overshown was easy to spot. He stood head and shoulders above most of the linemen in attendance during the morning camp at Mesquite. He showed he was more than a big frame though. His quick first step and ability to dip his shoulder and cut the corner off the edge was also eye-catching.
11
DQB
Avery Davis (2017)
Cedar Hill, Tex.
Recruiting wrap: Kansas, Oregon State, Texas Tech, and Utah State have all offered.
Performance: Davis gets the ball out quick and throws with accuracy. He put the ball into some tight windows where only his receiver could make a play on the ball. He also did a good job of hitting his receivers in stride and allowing them to make a play after the catch. He throws a solid strike with good velocity, and he has nice touch deep.
12
CB
Reggie Stubblefield
Arlington (Tex.) Sam Houston
Recruiting wrap: Stubblefield has offers from Arkansas State, Sam Houston State, and Southern Illinois. He is also receiving attention from TCU.
Performance: Stubblefield's stock is on the rise. He has a nice build and can play either safety or cornerback. He is able to get physical with receivers and knock them off their route, but he also showed some nice footwork. He is explosive out of his break and he made several throughout one-on-one drills.
13
DQB
Jaylen Gipson (2017)
Mexia, Tex.
Recruiting wrap: Gipson has an offer from Texas Tech and he is receiving interest from TCU and Texas.
Performance: Gipson's arm strength is not in question. His accuracy was a bit off as he sailed a few passes over the head of his intended target. That said, he did throw the ball with some very nice velocity, and he did settle in nicely over time and ended camp on a high note. He also has some nice size (6-2, 195) and a high release point.
14
DQB
Quint Scoufos
Salllisaw, Okla.
Recruiting wrap: Scoufos has an offer from Sam Houston State.
Performance: Scoufos is listed as a quarterback, but it is clear he is headed for a change. He has great size (6-4, 235) and a big frame and on Thursday morning, he showed off some nice hands. He was very sure handed, and he looked the part at tight end. He has a "whatever it takes" attitude and looks like he could turn into a versatile threat at tight end.
15
CB
Arnold Azunna
Mansfield (Tex.) Lake Ridge
Recruiting wrap: Azunna has offers from Iowa State, Illinois, Purdue, Fresno State, Colorado State and several others.
Performance: Azunna loves to get physical. There are times he gets off balance and clutches and grabs down the field, but he also has several bright spots. He always seems to be there to make a play on the ball and he is quick in and out of his breaks. His explosiveness allows him to make up ground in a hurry and he timed his play on the ball really well.
