Salyer's official visit to Notre Dame is make or break for the Irish

THE LATEST: This weekend is likely Notre Dame's final shot at hosting five-star offensive guard Jamaree Salyer on their campus. Salyer has visited South Bend (Ind.) two times, so he is familiar with the campus, he has gotten a feel for the environment and the third time will tell him if he will take the Irish to the end of his recruitment.

The 6-foot-4, 310 pound mauler out of Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy is ready for his first official visit.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I know the campus well, their tradition is big for them and I am ready to see what it is like on game-day at Notre Dame," said Salyer. "It will be a big game against Georgia, so I want to see how they play against a top school in the SEC. I am really looking forward to it."

TAKING IN GAME-DAY: "I want to see the fans there and what is like when Notre Dame plays a big game. I want to see what the atmosphere is like. I have heard a lot about it, so I want to see it for myself. I expect it to be a lot of fun, so I am ready to get up there."

THEIR APPROACH: "It is kind of life after football and how I am a great fit for the school there. The coaches think I am a very good fit not only for the football team, but for the school too. Coach [Harry] Hiestand (offensive line) has shown me tape of the offensive linemen and shown me how I can be a great fit there. Their approach is really about the fit for me. Not only on the football side, but the 40-year plan after football."

A LOT OF RESPECT: "Coach Hiestand and I have a very good relationship and I really like how honest he is. He is a stand-up guy, we talk once a week and he will tell me how he feels. I feel he is doing a great job recruiting me and he is as genuine as they come. He has a great track record coaching offensive linemen too, so those are things I like about him."

KEY VISIT: "The official visits for me are important for me, but maybe even more important for my family. This visit to Notre Dame will be big because it will tell me just how I feel about them. They are one of my top schools now, so I want to see how I feel about them after this visit. I am very interested in them now, so after this visit, I will decide if I want to continue to look at them. If things go well, then Notre Dame could be a school I take to the end."

RIVALS REACTION: Other than Notre Dame, it is Clemson, Georgia Ohio State and Stanford. Salyer does not want to name schools in order at this time, but he admitted Clemson and Georgia may have the lead heading into this weekend. This is a big visit for the Salyer visit, and as he visits schools, he will decide if he wants to keep them on his list or cut them. Right now he is at five and he is set to sign December 20th, the first day of the early signing period.
