Sales makes a surprise decision

Offensive center Quinton Sales has come to a decision. The 6-foot-2, 278-pounder out of Fort Washington (Md.) Friendly decided in favor of playing time to Division I offers from the likes of Wake Forest, Akron, Buffalo, Kent, Ohio and Eastern Michigan.
"I committed last night to UMass," he said. "I had other I-A schools, but I just wanted to play right away and compete for time. I want to compete on the college level and Massachusetts gave me the opportunity.

"I went on an official visit there last weekend and really liked it. They are a top 100 school academically in the nation which is a plus. I also liked the players there. They are warm and have open arms. That was a factor too. They are really laid back and it's a cool environment."
Sales is expected to be an offensive center for UMass.
"I'm going there as a center, that's definitely cool with me."
Sales added some final comments.
"I really want to say Coach Berry helped me a lot through this process along with Lamaar Thomas and Josh Haden, my parents, brother. It's a good decision for me. I want to compete and won't have to wait for playing time."
