Safety Wants School Close To Home

Sumter (S.C.) Crestwood is the place numerous college recruiters visited this May in search of a potential All-American safety. That safety is Maurice Nelson, one of the top players at his position in the country with the offers to back it up.
“I don’t really know how many offers I have, I sort of lost track,” said the 6-foot-2, 210-pounder who estimates he has more than 20 offers at this point. “I just know the teams that stand out.”

Nelson lists South Carolina, Clemson, Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland, Georgia and Georgia Tech among the teams he’s most interested in although he has not set order.
“I think I want to stay close to home, at least within a few hours of home,” he said. “I know I’ll take a long look at Clemson and South Carolina for sure.”
As a junior, Nelson had 79 tackles with 11 of them for a loss. He also intercepted two passes and broke up eight more.
