Safety picks Fresno State

There are numerous stars this season at Encino (Calif.) Crespi and one of them, defensive back Charles Washington, decided to end his recruitment Monday and commit to Fresno State.
A school source sent an e-mail Monday afternoon saying that Washington, a 5-foot-10, 178-pound three-star prospect by Rivals.com, had pledged to the Bulldogs. He also had offers from Iowa State, New Mexico State and Wyoming.

Washington recently took an unofficial visit to Fresno State with teammate Ronald Ussery, a two-star defensive end who is quickly moving up the charts and is hearing from numerous schools. Arizona State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Wyoming and others have offered the 6-foot-3, 230-pound recruit.
Washington and Ussery attended the Fresno State-Nevada game and Ussery said afterward that both were impressed with both programs and that the atmosphere was outstanding. Fresno State had long been involved in Washington's recruitment.
Ussery and linebacker Reggie Coates have some visits lined up over the next month or so leading up to National Signing Day. Coates has offers from Colorado State, Iowa State, Nevada and Tulsa. Fresno State is also seriously in the picture for Ussery, whose mother attended that school.
The top player at Crespi this recruiting cycle is four-star wide receiver Devin Lucien, who has recently scheduled trips to Kentucky and Colorado and according to reports has also finalized his Michigan visit for the weekend of Jan. 7.
Rated as the No. 28 receiver nationally by Rivals.com, Lucien lists offers from Air Force, Arizona State, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan, New Mexico State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Tulsa and UCLA.
The top player at Crespi in its 2012 class is 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive tackle Jordan Simmons, who already has early verbal offers from Florida, USC, UCLA, Washington, San Diego State and New Mexico.
