Player to Watch: Ira Guilford

Position: Free Safety
Size and speed: Guilford is 5-foot-11 and weighs 185 pounds. Ira runs a 4.45-second 40-yard dash.
Statistics: Last season, Guilford had 86 tackles, four sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 10 tackles for loss and three interceptions. Ira is a full qualifier with an 1100 SAT and a 3.1 GPA.
Honors: All-county
Favorite Schools: Ira lists Ohio State, Rutgers, Michigan and Boston College as his favorites. He is also receiving interest from Penn State, Illinois and Syracuse among others.
Skinny: If you’re looking for a safety that will come up and play physical, then you found him. He should be considered one of the top safeties in the east and without a doubt in the state of New Jersey. Ira plays fast and hard, he moves to the ball aggressively and hits like a linebacker.
"I play running back as well, but my first love is defense. That's where I want to play in college."
Guilford plays at a high school that is well known for its football program and college coaches are really taking notice of his abilities. A pure football player, he dominates a game from his safety position with his smart play and hard hitting. He takes great angles and has the speed to run down ball carriers. He makes you notice him!
Ira should have plenty of offers over the months to come and his name will begin to be mentioned more and more inside the recruiting circles.
