Boston College made quite an impression this weekend on McKeesport (Pa.) McKeesport Area safety Ray Lankford.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety visited Chestnut Hill, Mass. this past weekend and left Boston thoroughly impressed.
“It went really well,” Lankford said. “I met a lot of really good people, saw the campus and watched the Eagles beat Syracuse pretty bad.
“I didn’t meet anybody all weekend who had an attitude. I didn’t meet anybody who had anything bad to say about Boston College.”
Coach Tom O’Brien left a particularly strong impression on Lankford.
“Coach O’Brien was very intimate with all the recruits,” Lankford said. “He showed us all a lot of attention.”
Following the visit, BC seems to be in the driver’s seat for Lankford.
“They’ve offered me,” Lankford said. “The relationship between me and BC is pretty strong right now.”
The Eagles, however, will have to hold off Iowa, who’ll get a visit from Lankford in late December. The Hawkeyes, who are likely headed to a BCS Bowl game, have offered Lankford a scholarship.
Lankford will visit Iowa City along with teammate Bill Starry, who is also being looked at by the Hawkeyes.
On Dec. 6, Lankford and Starry will take an official visit to Eastern Michigan as well.
Lankford is rated by Rivals.com as a two-star prospect, and as the 42nd-best prospect in Pennsylvania.
