Dallas (Ga.) East Paulding three-star offensive tackle Paul Duncan always said that he was leaning toward Notre Dame throughout the recruiting process, but things got a bit crazy when the Irish fired Tyrone Willingham, and that’s opened the door for other teams to attempt to get him to land at their school.
And to pull it off, the coaches are brining out the big guns.
“Coach Roof from Duke was here yesterday, and coach Saban from LSU was just here, too,” Duncan’s mother, Julie Duncan, said. “It was really neat to talk to those guys and get to know them even better. Coach Stoops from Oklahoma is coming on Tuesday.”
So what’s mom think about what’s happening with Duncan’s recruiting?
“I think he still wants to wait to see what’s going to happen at Notre Dame,” she said. “He’s waiting to see who their coach is, but you have to wonder how long they’re going to take and how long we’re going to wait.”
Duncan will be participating in a basketball tournament this weekend and with four of his official visits in the books – Duke, LSU, Oklahoma and UCLA – he’s got room for one more visit to South Bend before he makes a final decision. That’s if they wait long enough for the Irish to make a decision.
