S.C. WR picks up first two offers

Irmo (S.C.) wide receiver Martin Frierson somehow managed to fly somewhat under the radar through much of the spring. Now that summer has arrived and he has attended several camps, his name is becoming more well-known.
“Right now I have offers from Notre Dame and Vanderbilt,” Frierson said. “I am getting a lot of attention from Auburn, Maryland, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, NC State and Marshall. Most of these schools have told me that they want to see more film on me after about the third game this year.”

Frierson attended the NIKE camp in Atlanta where he checked in at 6-foot-1.5 and 179 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds, the shuttle in 4.03 seconds and had a 30.0-inch vertical jump.
“Really I am still pretty open,” Frierson said. “I would say some of the schools that stand out the most are Miami, Georgia, Auburn, Notre Dame, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and South Carolina.”
Frierson does 11 reps on the bench press, has a 275-pound bench press max and 350-pound squat max.
“I’m looking for a school that can offer me early playing time,” Frierson said. “I am really focused on academics so I want to go somewhere that can offer me a good education. I’m going to look how well the players bond with the coaches and with each other.”
As a junior Frierson caught 23 passes for 550 yards and three touchdowns. In addition to the NIKE camp, he has attended camps at Miami, Georgia, Clemson and Auburn this summer.
“I went to Georgia two weeks ago and Auburn last weekend,” Frierson said. “I enjoyed both camps and thought that I did well at both. When I was at Georgia I talked to (wide receivers) coach Eason and his assistant. He said that he was going to come and watch me play in the early part of my senior season.”
