Ryan Hayes planning three spring visits

Traverse City (Mich.) West offensive tackle Ryan Hayes is one of the Great Lakes State’s highest-recruited prospects in the 2018 class. With a dozen offers to his credit, Hayes continues to work the process while he considers his ultimate college destination.

THE LATEST

Hayes is planning his next visits to Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame – the three Power Five schools that have offered which are located closest to his northern Michigan home. Only the Notre Dame visit has a date planned, and that will be the weekend of March 25. Schools as far away as Cal, TCU, Vanderbilt and Virginia have offered. Hayes is likely to travel to schools further away in the coming months, but does not have visits planned beyond the three Midwest programs.

IN HIS WORDS

“The schools I'm going to visit soon are all contenders. But I'm not ruling out anything yet.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Hayes is targeting a late summer decision, so while the three schools he plans to visit next appear to be the strongest contenders, there is still a lot of recruiting yet to go. Michigan State has had the most success recruiting Traverse City in recent years, in large part due to the Bullough brothers, who are Spartan legacies, but out of region schools have been able to make inroads, most notably Oregon who grabbed current NFL lineman Jake Fisher out of the same school Hayes’ attends in the 2011 class. This recruitment has the feel of one that will result in a local choice, but it is too early to say for sure.
