Rutgers get DT

Ardmore (Pa.) Saint Joe's defensive tackle Charlie Noonan took his first official visit of the season this past weekend to Rutgers. The 6-foot-2, 252-pounder liked his visit so much that he gave the Scarlet Knights a verbal commitment.
"I committed to coach Schiano today," he said. "The coaches were all really excited and can't wait for me to come in. They see me playing nose guard and the guy there now will be a junior next year and they see me stepping in and getting some time as a freshman."

What caused Noonan to commit to Rutgers over offers from Colorado State, Indiana, Toledo and others?
"I could tell the program was really on the rise and it's a great opportunity for me to jump in there," he said. "I just had the feeling and I could really picture myself there. Besides that, I liked the academics of course and they have a very dedicated program."
The two-star prospect detailed why he made the decision on his visit.
"I couldn't have really asked for a better opportunity and they are sort of close to home," he said. "Now I just feel really relieved that all the stress of recruiting is off."
Noonan can't wait to join up with the Scarlet Knights.
"I'm very excited about my commitment and am looking forward to being the best player I can be at Rutgers."
