Rutgers gains ground for Rivals100 WR

Rutgers played host to a handful of Homestead, Fla. recruits over the weekend including Rivals100 wide receiver Alphonso Bryant. Prior to the trip, the 6-foot-0, 190-pounder was favoring Florida State. Did the Scarlet Knights make up any ground?
"My trip to Rutgers was a good one," he said. "I got there Friday afternoon and I met with coach Schiano and then I went over some of the academic stuff and had dinner.

"On Saturday, we caught a train to New York City and I ate dinner at the ESPNZone. That was great; we watched the Cowboys-Falcons game and then walked around the city. It was just what I expected it to be, a lot of people and traffic. At night I hung out with my host Courtney Greene. He's a great dude and a terrific player to be with. It was really nice talking to him and hanging out, but he didn't say anything that really stood out to me."
On Sunday, the four-star prospect met with coach Demarest and Schiano.
"Coach Demo was telling me how they really need help in the secondary since they have three corners leaving this year," he said. "He said if I decided to come to Rutgers, I'd probably get a chance to play early.
"Then I talked to coach Schiano and he basically said the same thing. He thinks I've got a chance to play early and he really thinks I can be a playmaker for them."
The trip did help the Scarlet Knights gain ground on Florida State.
"I'd rate the visit a nine, it was a great trip," he said. "After that visit, I'd put Rutgers as my No. 2 school trailing Florida State.
"I like Florida State because I know I have a chance to play either side of the ball at wide receiver or defensive back. I plan to take my visit to Florida State on January 12th and then I'm going to schedule a visit to North Carolina. I'm not sure what to expect on these last two visits."
