Rutgers adds local ATH Robinson

Somerville, N.J. athlete Mason Robinson gave his verbal pledge to Rutgers. The 5-foot-9, 180-pounder chose the Scarlet Knights over offers from Boston College, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Virginia and others.
"I actually committed a few days ago," he said. "I first talked to coach Jackson and then to Greg Schiano. They were very happy and excited."

After growing up a fan of Michigan all his life and hardly considering, what made Robinson decide to stay in-state?
"I really liked it there," he said. "I like the coaches, players and recruits that have committed there. Caoch Schiano is a cool guy and I can tell he definitely loves his players. Throughout the process, the coaches were real with me and never lied. I never felt uncomfortable around them either."
The three-star prospect is expected to play running back when he arrives in Piscataway.
"I definitely think it's a good fit and personally hope I can participate on kick and punt returns right away," he said. "I'll do whatever needed to get some playing time."
Robinson had a final word to say to Rutgers fans.
"It's going to be a fun four years and hopefully we can bring a championship home."
