Russell will be Mullens man

MOBILE, Ala. – Even though he's at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic, Meridian, Miss., quarterback Tyler Russell has had his mind also on the new hire at Mississippi State.
And from the sounds of things, new coach Dan Mullen hasn't wasted any time in getting in touch with the three-star signal-caller.

"I really think coach Mullen is going to open up the offense because that is what he did at Florida," Russell, who is 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, said. "I am very excited."
And it sounds like Mullen is going to move quickly to spend time with the long-time MSU commitment.
"He is coming by my house this Sunday," Russell said. "He called me (Thursday) afternoon but the reception was poor, but we did get to talk for a while."
From the sounds of things, Russell liked what he heard.
"He told me that he wanted to build the program around me, and that I was the guy other kids would follow just like they did Tim Tebow," Russell said. "He also said he was looking forward to our talk on Sunday."
