Running backs highlight Kansas

With two Big 12 programs and the metropolitan areas of Wichita and Kansas City, the state of Kansas puts out a fair number of Division I-A prospects each and every year. The Class of 2006 features several solid prospects, all of which are included in the Rivals.com preseason Kansas Top 10.
Jake Sharp, fresh off a strong showing at the Manhattan NIKE camp, is one of two running backs in the top five, along with Jeran Trotter from Wichita Heights.

Sharp (5-foot-10, 173 pounds) has an offer in hand from Kansas.
Nebraska, among other programs, has been tracking Trotter, a the 5-foot-7 playmaker, but he has yet to get an official offer from a Big 12 school.
The top prospect in Kansas is offensive lineman Scott Krehbiel of Pratt.Krehbiel has offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Arkansas, Nebraska and Colorado State.
Sharp, who has an offer from Kansas, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. The Salina native also posted a 34-inch vertical leap.
Jayhawks commit Jamal Greene is the No. 3 prospect in Kansas. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound defensive end committed to KU on Sunday.
The rankings were compiled by Rivals.com national analyst Jeremy Crabtree and regional analysts Brian Gates and Jon Kirby.
