Rumph has decision in mind

The college choice for Keller (Texas) Fossil Ridge defensive end Lawrence Rumph is pretty clear. However, there are still some things to be ironed out before that becomes a reality.
Rumph, the 6-foot-2, 256-pound strongside defensive end, started to rise late in the process and quickly added scholarship offers. Those included Houston, Missouri, Central Florida, TCU, and UTEP. Now, Rumph is looking for one in particular from an in-state school.

"Texas Tech is going to be my first official visit on that first weekend in January," Rumph said. "They're waiting to find out what my ACT score is going to come back as and then they can offer. Once they do that, I want to commit.
Rumph says that he also has a tentative visit scheduled to Missouri on Jan. 26. However, if he gets an offer from the Red Raiders, don't look for the sleeper defender to waste time. If an offer doesn't come, he already has a backup plan.
"If I don't get the offer, I'll probably go to junior college," Rumph said. "I'm looking at Tyler right now. I also may still take the trip to Missouri, but we'll see."
The high interest in Tech has a lot to do with distance from home and having a family member in Lubbock with him.
"My sister is also going to go there, so being at Tech would be a lot easier on my parents," Rumph said. "They've been pretty clear that if I get my score back and it qualifies, they'll offer."
Rumph wasn't able to make his originally scheduled December visits to Central Florida and Missouri.
