Ruiz is getting early looks

Baton Rouge (La.) St. Michael offensive guard prospect Evan Ruiz is working through the track season and getting ready for spring football. He's also hearing from several schools while he waits on his first scholarship offer.
The 6-foot-4, 282-pounder is currently participating in several events in track such as the shot put, discus, and the javelin. He's also working on getting ready for his senior football season. In recruiting, schools such as Connecticut, Colorado, LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn are on his radar.

"It's just a lot of mail for the most part," Ruiz said. "I've been getting text messages on my phone. UConn actually has sent a lot and Colorado has sent me a few. I want to go through the process, so there really isn't just one team that's a favorite.
"My top three are LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn right now, but I'm not ready to make up my mind or anything."
Ruiz took a trip to Ole Miss this past Saturday and says that he was impressed.
"It's a nice campus and that went really well talking with the coaches," Ruiz said. "LSU is a big school and it has that hometown feeling. Auburn wants me to come to their camps and they said that's when they really like to look at guys."
Ruiz was thinking about a trip also to Southern Miss, but due to his track schedule, won't be able to make it. He still plans to make a camp stop there.
As for his upcoming season, Ruiz says he's ready and working towards a playoff run.
"Well, winning district is first," Ruiz said about his goals. "In the off-season our goal right now is to make athletes out of us. We just want to win district and head to the playoffs. My goal is just to get stronger and be more physical along the line."
