Oklahoma City Bishop McGuinness wide receiver Rubell Goe is ranked among the best prospects in Oklahoma’s 2017 class, yet the three-star holds just one scholarship offer. The lack of offers, though, is not discouraging Goe.
“It’s not frustrating,” Goe said. “I have an offer and that’s something a lot of people work towards, so it’s not like I don’t have anywhere to go. It’s something I am being patient with. I am looking for the right offer, not a multitude of offers.”
The one program that has extended an offer to Goe is the Air Force Academy, and the 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver is considering that option seriously.
“I’ve looked into it and it’s definitely something that’s piqued my interest,” Goe said. “It’s a good offer to have and a good offer to start with. I’m excited about it and it’s something where I’d like to visit, meet the coaches and get a better relationship with them.”
Plenty of other schools are showing interest in Goe, who listed Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Kansas as the teams he is in contact with the most.
“They just want to see me more in game film and speed is something they want to see,” Goe said.
“Oklahoma State is definitely the (school) I’ve been to the most. We talk, and hopefully it gets more and more serious during the season. It’s mostly been about numbers: how many receivers they are looking to take, how many they have committed and then we just talked about going from there and seeing what happens.”
One possible explanation for Goe’s lack of offers is that he was unable to make the college camp circuit this summer.
“I was actually out with an injury for most of the summer, so it was hard to make it (out to camps),” he said. “I will be 100% for the season and I have been doing rehab for it. It’s nothing too serious, just a minor knee injury.”
Goe is coming off a junior season that saw him record 62 receptions for 1,390 yards and 19 touchdowns.
