RU commit Rene talks Wisconsin visit

Rivals250 defensive back Patrice Rene has been committed to Rutgers since August but an official visit to Wisconsin almost changed that. The Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal School stand out really liked what he saw in Madison.
"It was great," said the 6-foot-2, 203-pound Rene. "I really enjoyed myself and soaked up all the information they had for me. On the field the offense struggled but they're definitely strong on defense. They have a great scheme. The defensive coordinator does a great job and he's very smart. They played really well. I liked what they did with their defensive backs.

"I got a chance to talk to all the coaches," he said. "They all relayed the same message that they really like what I'm about, they want me to be a part of the program and they want the opportunity to coach me. They've been a consistent program, have a lot to offer and I can get a good education there. I could be a guy that could step in and make an early impact. They would love to have me as a Badger."
Rene admits that he almost committed to Wisconsin.
"I was pretty close to flipping," said Rene. "I've been contact with them for a couple months now. Coach Jones does a good job recruiting me and I just love what they're all about. I had a really good vibe. I felt comfortable and it felt like home. It was definitely tough to restrain myself and not do anything drastic without talking to my parents and coaches. That visit was a very good one and I was impressed."
There are a few other schools Rene is going to visit.
"Right now I'm planning on going to the Rutgers game against Maryland for another one of my official visits," he said. "I'll probably head out to Boston College. I'll definitely take an official visit to North Carolina in December."
Obviously Rene is keeping a close eye on everything that happens at Rutgers.
"I don't know if coach Flood is going to stay or if he's going to go," Rene said. "I'm kind of waiting on them to see what's going to happen. If I need to make a move, I'll make it when it feels right."
Rene helped Episcopal to six wins this season.
