Royster enjoys Oklahoma official

Chantilly (Va.) Westfield running back Evan Royster took his first official visit of the season to Oklahoma this past weekend. What did the 6-foot-0, 190-pounder with 4.45-second speed think of the Sooners?
"I was hosted by linebacker Curtis Lofton and he was cool and really showed me around," he said. "On Friday, I went to lunch with coach Gundy and then out to a movie with the team. After the game Saturday, everyone was down since the loss and it's a big football town so there wasn't too much to do. It was still cool and we went back to the dorm and chilled with some of the football players and went out to dinner. Then I had to leave early Sunday morning.

"Over the visit I got to talk to all the coaches and had a meeting with them. I also got to meet a bunch of players including other running backs like Jacob Gutierrez and Kejuan Jones. They are both good people."
Of course, the No. 27 running back in the country took in the Sooner's loss to TCU, but that doesn't seem to have soured him at all about Oklahoma.
"I can understand why they lost because they had a bunch of young players, but I expected them to win. The loss doesn't change the way I feel about the school," he said. "I really like it there and I'm really impressed with the coaching staff and all the players. The visit drew me closer. I'd give it a 9 out of 10 because it was a good experience and it'll really help me make a decision later on. I'm still wide open though."
Royster is starting to consider his next official visits.
"I was thinking I'll go to Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State and/or Miami," he said. "I don't have an offer from those schools, but they all send a lot of mail to my house. I've got a contact at Alabama and they're probably going to offer soon. They also told me that one of their recruits will get out to my games soon."
The three-star prospect hasn't talked to any coaches yet, but has received a couple messages on his phone since coaches can start calling on September 1st.
Westfield opened the season last week beating Hayfield 40-7.
"We beat them pretty well and I think I had around 200 yards rushing on 12 carries and three touchdowns," he said. "I was pretty happy with my performance on an opening game and hopefully things just keep getting better for me."
This week Royster and his teammates take to the road as they battle Annandale.
