Ross witnesses instant classic

Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's four-star 2017 linebacker Joshua Ross was in the stands when his in-state Big Ten programs Michigan and Michigan State played an instant classic last Saturday.

"I was up at Michigan and that was crazy," Ross said. "And, it was so crazy to see the person I played with, Jalen Watts-Jackson, scored the touchdown to win the game. He'll go down in history with that one."
The game took place at Michigan Stadium and it was Ross' third visit to Ann Arbor for a game this fall. Michigan was one of his early offers and he is impressed with what he has seen from the Wolverines this season.
"Everything is going good and just to see how much better their team has gotten from last year to this year is crazy," he said. "I never would have thought (Jim) Harbaugh would have made that big of an impact. I knew he was a good coach, but that is just ridiculous."
One of the reasons Ross has been a frequent visitor to Ann Arbor for games this fall is his brother, James Ross III, who is a starting linebacker for the Wolverines.
"My brother is not much of a talker, but being around him so much in his life I can tell when he is excited and when he is down," Ross said. "This whole season he has been excited, maybe the most excited he's ever been. I can tell he is having a good time."
The only other school Ross has visited this season for a game is Michigan State. He attended their contest against Oregon last month and holds an offer from the Spartans.
"I haven't been talking to them much, but I still like Michigan State," Ross said. "Everything is going good with them still."
Ross now holds nine offers after adding a recent one from Washington. He lists Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State as the four schools that stand out most, but he is still looking at all his options.
"I'm just playing it by ear and taking as many visits as I can," Ross said. "After football season I am going to try to get to as many schools as I can, but right now I am just focused on the season and winning a state championship.
"Ohio State one of the biggest I want to get out to. I have been to a camp down there, but haven't really been on campus, visiting the school yet."
The 6-foot, 220-pound Ross has helped St. Mary's to a 6-1 record record this season by tallying 72 tackles, three interceptions and a sack from his linebacker position.
