Ross comments on his visit to Oregon

Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) defensive back Devin Ross took his second official visit this past weekend and has begun to narrow his sizable list of schools down a workable five or six with a couple schools standing out among the group.
Ross, 5-11, 185 pounds is the top rated cornerback in the West region and a national top 100 player as well. He has already visited Nebraska and took a trip to Oregon this past weekend.

"I had a real good time, it was definitely on par with my visit to Nebraska," Ross said. "The people there were so friendly, they would just come up and say hi, even though they had no clue who I was. There is a real nice bond between the players and coaches as well and everyone gets along very well.
"We played on Thursday so I was able to get down there Friday and spend the whole weekend. Patrick Chung, who played here at Rancho Cucamonga was my host but I hung out with a lot of the players on the team. There is a lot to do in Eugene, I had a good time going out with everyone after the game on Saturday."
As for the game in which Oregon took on the nation's No. 1 ranked team, USC, Ross said the game atmosphere was incredible.
"The crowd was really in to it from beginning to end," Ross said. "The team came out really hyped and when they got up early, I thought they had a chance but once SC got rolling, it was tough to slow them down. Still the team played hard and the fans were still going crazy even at the very end of the game.
"I was really trying to watch the corners from Oregon pretty closely during the game, trying to see how I would fit in with their scheme. I was watching the game as a fan too, but I was real interested in seeing how those guys played and what kind of system they run at Oregon. Overall, it was a great trip and I really like the city of Eugene, it's a great football town and Oregon sports are really the only game in town there so the fans really get behind the team there."
With two trips down, Ross said he doesn't have any other trips planned right now but has begun to narrow his list a bit.
"The six schools I'm really looking at now are UCLA, Oregon, Nebraska, Arizona, Cal and Oklahoma," Ross added. "UCLA, Oregon and Arizona probably have an edge right now but I'm looking at all of those schools and honestly, I'm just thankful to all the colleges who recruited me hard and offered me. I wish I could thank all of them for showing me so much interest.
"I like SC too, but they're not really recruiting me that hard right now and I know they have some national players they're looking at more right now. I think they take a little longer sometimes with the local players before offering. I still talk to them once in awhile and Coach Burns was at my first game this year so who knows."
There has been some speculation that if UCLA were to offer, they would jump to the top of Ross' list.
Devin Ross VideoClick "Yeah, UCLA would be up there for sure," he said. "They have my transcripts but want to wait until they get my five week progress report before offering. That will come out next week and right now, I have five As and a C+ so I feel like I'm doing pretty good. I'm taking a couple extra core classes to improve my overall GPA and I'll be taking the SAT (Oct. 8). If they were to offer, that would definitely put UCLA up at the top, I like them a lot and they're playing real well this year."Here to view this Link.
