Dare Rosenthal stands 6-foot-7, and he checks in at 290-pounds. He is also only a freshman in high school.
On Monday the Alabama Crimson Tide became the first to extend a scholarship offer to the standout offensive tackle from Ferriday (La.), and Rosenthal decided he was ready to make his commitment.
"It feels good," Rosenthal said. "I want to play for the Tide. Roll Tide!!!
"They have a great program."
Once Rosenthal learned of his offer, he knew he wanted to be a part of the Alabama program, and it did not take him long to make his decision.
"I said Bama is interested in you and he said I want to play for Alabama," Ferriday head coach Cleothis Cummings said.
It also did not take long for Rosenthal to speak with area recruiter Billy Napier and head coach Nick Saban and let them know of his decision.
Rosenthal plans to camp at Alabama May 31 through June 3.
In addition to Alabama, Rosenthal has received interest from LSU. He was a first-team all-district selecition on offense and a second-team all-district selection on defense. He recorded 64 tackles (25 solo, 39 assists) and 12 tackles for loss as a freshman and was also a standout on the varsity basketball squad.
Rosenthal attended the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour in Dallas on March 29 at Cedar Hill High School. His performance earned a spot on the Underclassmen Top Performers List from the event.
