Rooks responding to PSU interest

Among the schools that has picked up the interest in Chicago (Ill.) De La Salle 2017 wide receiver Eric Rooks this month is Penn State, and the three-star prospect is encouraged by the Nittany Lion's show of interest.
"Penn State has definitely been showing the most interest," Rooks said. "They wanted me to come out to the satellite camp, but I wasn't able to make it. They had been showing interest here and there, but now they are really coming on strong."

Rooks has been communicating with Penn State assistant coach Ricky Rahne and is looking to schedule a visit to State College.
"They just want me to visit at this point," Rooks said. "I talk to them a lot - on a weekly basis - and am planning on going down there to take a visit."
Three weeks into the season Rooks has not made any college visits yet, but he is targeting several schools for game visits later in the fall.
"I know Michigan State will be soon and then I'll be going to Penn State after that. LSU, I want to go down there in November," Rooks said. "I was supposed to go to Michigan State on Saturday, but our game got rained out (Friday) and we had to play on Saturday."
Michigan State is another school that has been showing increased interest in Rooks since the start of September.
"Michigan State, I like them a lot," he said. "Last year they came out to the school and talked to me. I think they just want to see me develop more and get me up to the campus."
Kansas and Toledo are the two schools that already offered Rooks. He continues to keep in close with the Jayhawk's coaching staff.
"I talk to them a decent amount," Rooks said. "I am probably going to end up going down there (for a game). I want to check out the environment, see how their game day process is and how they are training and weight lifting."
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Rooks estimated his season stats at 16 receptions for 300 yards and a touchdown through four games.
