Ron Tanner off to an early start

Ron Tanner is gearing up to start two-a-days for his junior season at Eastmoor Academy in Columbus.
The 6-1 safety prospect picked up a verbal offer from West Virginia during the spring, and could see his recruitment explode during the fall.

"I was excited and surprised," Tanner said. "I was just getting some interest from West Virginia a few weeks before that, but then they gave me a verbal offer. That was a big step."
Tanner attended a prospect camp at West Virginia this summer.
"I went to their senior camp. I liked the campus a lot. I was surprised actually. I was expecting it to be nice, but it was more than I anticipated. The coaches made me feel welcome. They run a 3-3-5 defense. That is not what we run, but I actually like that scheme."
Now, several schools are beginning to pursue the talented defensive back.
"Ohio State, Northwestern, Illinois, UCLA, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Michigan, and Wisconsin are some of the schools that are recruiting me. Most of them came by my school during the spring evaluation period."
Tanner said he recorded 102 tackles last year, six interceptions, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries last season.
"Basically, I just try to go all out. I like to hit. I am always trying to stick my nose in there where I can. I have been playing free safety, and I will be be playing quarterback this year as well. I hope to showcase my athletic ability on the field. I think I will ultimately be a free safety in college."
Ron also excels in the classroom.
"I have a 3.7 G.P.A. I take all advanced courses. I am looking to take college courses now. I plan on being a sports attorney. I would love to stoudy law and business."
Tanner helped Eastmoor Academy reach the Division III state title game last season, where Eastmoor fell to Aurora 21-10. Tanner led his team with 5.5 tackles in the game.
