Pompano Beach (Fla.) Blanche Ely three-star cornerback Rashard Robinson has been a standout for the South Florida Express 7-on-7 squad over the past month. That, combined with a strong showing at a recent combine, has led to him landing his first offer.
"I just talked to Florida State's Eddie Gran and he told me I picked up my first offer," Robinson said.
The 6-foot-3, 171-pound defensive back was surprised by today's news.
"It is still shocking," Robinson said. "I have been working really hard academically and on the field to improve my game and it just feels like everything is starting to pay off."
Robinson shed a little light on his conversation with the Florida State assistant coach.
"He was just asking me if I like Florida State and everything," Robinson said. "He just asked me about my grades and everything. He said as long as I meet all the requirements I am in there. He also told me he wants me to come visit them for their spring game. I am going to try and get up there for that."
Other schools such as Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida International, Iowa State, LSU, Miami, and Wisconsin are showing interest in Robinson. He says the fact the Seminoles were the first to step forward with an offer means a great deal.
"It means a lot," Robinson said. "Coach Gran told me he saw the video of me at Elite Scouting (Combine) and he said they liked me a lot. The fact they went ahead and offered me helps them stick out.
"It is overwhelming," Robinson added. "It is just a great opportunity."
Robinson played his junior year at Deerfield Beach, but will be patrolling the secondary for Blanche Ely this coming season.
