Robinson makes his decision

Denton (Texas) Guyer 2017 Rivals100 to Watch quarterback Shawn Robinson established himself early as one of the top quarterbacks in the country and he quickly became one of the most sought after signal callers in the 2017 recruiting class.

Friday afternoon he decided it was time to make his decision.
"I, Shawn Robinson, have committed to Texas Christian University," Robinson said. "Well, since the first time I visited TCU I kind of knew in the back of my head that that's the place for me. It's just the family atmosphere they have. I feel very comfortable around the coaches. I have a great relationship with them. The offense fits me well, and I just feel like it's a great fit for me. After looking and talking to other colleges and seeing what they have to offer I feel like TCU has the best of the best to offer."
One of the big reasons for his commitment was his relationship with TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie, who was also his lead recruiter for TCU.
"He played a big factor in my recruitment to TCU," Robinson said. "He did a great job. He's a great guy, a great coach, and I can't wait to get up there and be coached by him.
"He's an easygoing guy. You can make small talk with him. He's just a good guy. Everything about him is good. You can tell he's not shooting you any bull. He's telling you straight up. He's an honest guy and he's going to tell you what he thinks."
It also did not hurt seeing Trevone Boykin's success running TCU's offense in 2014.
"This year Trevone Boykin excelled and TCU went from 4-8 or something to this, so that raises eyebrows and shows how good of a coach Cumbie is and how good of a player Boykin is," Robinson said. "That played a big factor, watching them play and seeing how the offense developed. It looks pretty good and that's only the beginning."
Robinson committed to TCU over scholarship offers from Alabama, Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M, USC, Oklahoma, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma State and many others. He does not plan to take any other visits and he is solid in his commitment to the Horned Frogs.
He is the third commitment of TCU's 2017 recruiting class, joining Wes Harris and Roshauud Paul.
As a sophomore, Robinson completed 145 of 238 passes for 2,811 yards, 33 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. He also rushed for 1,415 yards and 17 touchdowns on 137 carries in his first season at Denton Guyer. He started as a freshman at Chisholm Trail in Fort Worth.
