Robinson focused on Stanford targets

The Opening was an important venue for four-star linebacker Curtis Robinson to show off his skills. It was also a perfect time for the Stanford commit to do some recruiting of his own.
"The two targets I'm really after are David Long and Demetris Robertson," Robinson said. "I talked to them a lot and I'm not going to let anything out but I think I did a pretty good job with it.

"I'm excited because our class really shaped up well. It was me, Kaden (Smith) and K.J. (Costello) at first and then it kind of slowed down a little bit and then we got three or four big commits which was good. Our class is really shaping up well and if we coud get a couple more guys like Demetris or David our class will be in good shape."
Robinson, from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, knows how to play the recruiting game. He talked Stanford up to the players who wanted to listen but he wasn't overbearing and pushy about it.
"I really don't have to say much," Robinson said. "A lot of people will come up to me and try to flip me and it gets annoying. I try to stay out of it. I let them go through their recruiting process but I just tell them everything they already know. I tell them to consider it. There is no reason not to.
"You see people committing there for a reason. Those are big-time players so I think they could make an early impact."
Long has long liked Stanford a whole lot and the Los Angeles Loyola prospect could be the easier of the two to convince that it's the right place for him. Robinson especially worked on Robertson during the week and said he has a pretty good feeling about it.
There are some built-in advantages for Alabama and other SEC schools but Robinson said the five-star from Savannah (Ga.) Savannah Christian School is serious about the Cardinal.
"Demetris will be harder especially with the down-South advantage, all the SEC schools," Robinson said. "I know he likes Stanford and he wants to take a visit so with that in my mind that makes me really excited.
"He's open to Stanford for sure. He was considering them even before I talked to him so that was good to know. I know he's still open and visiting schools in the South. He'll do his own thing and hopefully he will choose Stanford."
