Robertson lands early offers

Merlin Robertson just wrapped up his freshman season but he is quickly becoming one of the top prospects in the 2018 class especially with strong performances this offseason.
The Gardena (Calif.) Serra outside linebacker dominated the Dana Hills Air Strike Passing Tournament this past weekend on defense and even at tight end where he caught numerous passes - many of them tough receptions in the back or corner of the end zone.

As one coach from the powerhouse Serra program put it: "He's the next one."
Robertson, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect, has already been offered by Miami, Utah and Illinois. Alabama assistant coach Lane Kiffin was out recently and now the Crimson Tide are showing early interest.
As for the local schools, Robertson said USC has been pretty aggressive so far but the Trojans could wait until his sophomore season to get more involved.
"That's pretty much it," Robertson said. "I've been hearing a little from USC.
"They're thinking about offering but they're going to wait it out until the season comes."
Since Robertson still has three seasons ahead of him, the 2018 recruit said there are no favorites. So many schools could get involved and so much could happen in his recruitment, so he's not rushing a thing at this time.
Staying close to home or leaving? Robertson said he doesn't have a preference and won't start thinking about those things for a while.
"It doesn't really matter at this point," Robertson said.
