Robert Daniel patient as he awaits first Power Five offer

After breaking out on the camp and combine circuit last off-season, Oak Park, Mich. cornerback Robert Daniel parlayed that momentum into a terrific junior season. Despite those results, though, Power Five schools have been slow to make the move on an offer.

Daniel is ranked as the No. 30 cornerback and No. 9 prospect from the state of Michigan for the 2018 class and is coming off a junior season in which he collected 65 tackles and six interceptions from his cornerback position.

Mid-American Conference schools Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Miami (Ohio) and Western Michigan have offered, but Daniel still awaits his first Power Five offer. For his part, Daniel does not sweat the lack of Power Five offers.

“I am blessed to have (the offers) I’ve got and I’m grateful,” Daniel said. “I am just focusing and know what I need to work on.”

Daniel is receiving interest from several schools at the Power Five level. In November he attended a Wisconsin game in Madison.

“I took a visit down there and they seemed like they really liked me,” Daniel said. “I liked it down there and it was fun, a nice environment.”

Daniel is also receiving interest from the Pac-12, with Arizona leading that charge.

“I don’t know much about them, but Coach Chris (Singletary) is a good guy. I have been talking to him on Twitter,” Daniel said.

With the class of 2017 still front and center, there is plenty of time for Daniel to collect additional scholarship offers, and he is likely to be a popular prospect after the first Wednesday in February.
