Road trip awaits California DE

The definition of a versatile player must be included in the description of Westlake Village (Calif.) defensive end Jeff Miller due to his shared time on both offense and defense at the high school level.
That versatility and talent has earned him offers from a prestigious list of schools such as Boston College, Oklahoma, Colorado, Ole Miss, Oregon State, UCLA, and Washington State for starters. In order to start narrow things down before a planned preseason commitment, a large trip is in the works.

"My teammate and I decided during our three week break to hit the road so I can see some schools," Miller said. "I'm going to Oregon for their junior day, then Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, then Arizona and Oklahoma."
"My dad is coming with me to see Oklahoma because it's a great school and I think a lot about going there."
If all goes according to plan, Miller will not need official trips.
"I'm hoping to commit before my senior year so I won't really need them if it works out," Miller said. "If I can't decide before then, I'll take a couple and go from there."
A measuring stick will be needed to separate schools he likes and doesn't. Miller is using the home factor.
"I don't need to be close to home, but I want to feel comfortable," he said. "No matter where I am I want to be able to call it home."
