Road revelations: West region

Troy Dye's stock is on the rise.
Troy Dye, the three-star prospect from Norco, Calif., did not frequent the camp circuit the last few years, so he had been somewhat of an unknown. That quickly changed with a good performance at the Rivals Camp Series: Los Angeles, then at the Michigan satellite camp in Mission Viejo -- where he earned an offer from Jim Harbaugh -- and finally at the B2G Elite Camp.
Dye has a hulking frame that would seem to make him a prime candidate for an outside linebacker spot at the next level. He has shown the ability to cover receivers in the slot and also cover a ton of ground from the safety position. Dye might have been under the radar heading into the spring, but he has left impression that he is a versatile prospect to monitor closely this fall.

LB Breland Brandt | Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward School
It's still uncertain where Breland Brandt best projects to play on the college level.
Questions still remain about Breland Brandt and whether his future position will be defensive end or outside linebacker and how far he has developed in the last year or so.
There is no doubt about the Los Angeles Windward standout's physical ability, but position remains an issue and the four-star does not play high-level competition in high school. At the B2G Elite Camp, Brandt struggled during some one-on-ones and so he will be closely watched heading into his senior year.
Analyst's take
USC generates recruiting buzz
USC's series of camps drew more talented prospects than UCLA's.
UCLA has handily beaten crosstown rival USC each of the last three years, but it was the Trojans who generated most of the buzz last week during their camps. The two schools scheduled their elite camps on the exact same dates, drawing a line in the sand and forcing recruits to decide where they would compete. Although some prospects managed to stop by both, USC drew the most eyes, which suggests its brand might still be too much for Jim Mora and Co. to overcome on the recruiting trail.
Recruiting battles between the two Los Angeles schools are heating up, with Juarez at the epicenter of it all, so it will be interesting to see how big the camp season was in the grand scheme of things.
