Rivera locked onto KU, MU, KSU
Shawnee (Kan.) Shawnee Mission Northwest linebacker Mike Rivera has had to put recruiting on hold.
“We have had some family members get real sick,” the 6-foot-3, 230-pound Rivera said. “I just haven’t had time to sit down with my family and discuss it.”

The two-star rated Rivera continues to list three schools as his favorites.
“Right now It is kind of Kansas, Missouri and Kansas State,” he said. “I have not reached any kind of a decision and I’m not leaning one way or another.”
Rivera holds scholarship offers from Missouri and Kansas.
“I’m not quite ready to do anything. I want to visit more with my dad about this whole thing. I’m not quite ready to accept any offer yet. I’m not favoring any one school out of the three. I like a lot of things about all three schools.”
Rivera will begin preparation for his senior season Monday with the first practice of the school year.
“We start tomorrow,” he said. “I’m looking forward to this season. Compared to previous years we are looking good. We were 5-4 last year and 3-6 the year before. We should have a good season this fall.”
Rivera was hoping to have his decision out of the way before his senior season began.
“My goal was to get it done before we started the fall,” he said. “But, it isn’t happening right now. My thoughts were to get it done and then focus on football. I’ll get a chance before long to sit down and visit about it and then come to a decision.”
