Miami (Fla.) Southridge four-star safety Jamal Carter holds a few early offers.
"I have five offers so far," Carter said. "I've got Miami, USF, Florida, Louisville, and Florida State."
On Wednesday afternoon, when Carter was reached, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound safety was actually on a college campus for an unofficial visit.
"I am actually at Miami right now," Carter said. "I went to another Miami Junior Day. I came to Miami in late January and I am here again."
The South Florida prospect likes the appeal of the hometown Hurricanes.
"I like Miami a lot," Carter said. "It is close to home, not far from my mom. They also show a lot of love. I feel like it is a family over here.
"Miami is my leader right now," Carter added.
While Al Golden and company have the early lead, Carter doesn't intend to rush a decision.
"I am not going to make a decision yet," Carter said. "I still have a whole year left before I have to. I am going to take my time."
The Rivals250 defender intends to take a few visits to other schools over the coming weeks and months. Later this month, he will attend a Junior Day at another in-state school.
"I am supposed to visit FSU on the 25th (of February)," Carter said.
