New Haven (Conn.) Hyde Leadership offensive tackle Bruce Campbell gave his commitment to Maryland over the weekend over offers from Virginia, Nebraska and Michigan State among others. What made the 6-foot-7, 272-pounder pick the Terrapins?
"Going into the visit I wasn't really thinking about committing. I was still considering Virginia or one of the other schools," he said. "In the end though, I had a really good time and I realized that Maryland took a lot of interest in me throughout the recruiting process and they began to talk to me about academics and all that. In my mind, I knew Maryland was where I wanted to be.
"I decided to tell coach Sollazzo of my decision Monday morning and he was really excited. He was overjoyed about my decision and now I feel real good, it's a load of stress off."
The Rivals250 prospect plans to study criminal justice in college.
Campbell had one final word to say to Maryland's fans.
"Tell them all we're going to have a great football team in the future and we have a lot of great athletes coming in."
