Rivals250 lineman EJ Ndom-Ogar talks Sooners, spring visits

Although 2019 Rivals250 offensive lineman EJ Ndoma-Ogar has continued picking up offers throughout the season, he’s been putting off making too many big decisions involving his recruitment until wrapping things up this year.

He finished 2017 on a high note, as he helped his Allen team plow its way to another state championship two days before Christmas.

“After two years of not getting it, it’s just a blessing,” he said. “We promised it so many times, but this year was the year and we felt confident that we were going to take it all.”

In November, he picked up his two most recent offers from Vanderbilt and Maryland, but he’s also picked up offers from Missouri, Penn State and Washington over the course of the fall. While picking up offers is nothing new to Ndoma-Ogar, he hasn’t been able to really take a close look at many of his more recent options - something he’s looking forward to getting into this upcoming spring.

“They’re falling right in there,” he said. “I haven’t decided my top teams yet, I’m going to decide that right after the season … They’ve made a difference in my recruitment; getting those offers is awesome. Any offer is a blessing, and I’m just thankful to have them.”

One of the teams that was early to offer him and has stayed at the forefront of his recruitment has been Oklahoma, where he visited a few weeks ago with five-star 2019 teammate Theo Wease. Ndoma-Ogar still speaks diplomatically when it comes to the majority of his offers, but his opinion of the Sooners makes it clear that they are at the very least, one of his favorites.

“I love OU to death,” he said. “It’s a great program and a great school. You have many players here from Allen that have gone up there and excelled, and it’s just a great place.”

RIVALS REACTION

Oklahoma certainly seems to have a strong footing with Ndoma-Ogar among the regional teams that have recruited him to this point, but he’s also been open about his affinity for North Carolina and Wake Forest. His parents have ties to both schools and he enjoys the state’s environment.

Expect things to start getting a little more serious with some of the other teams he’s considering this spring, as he’s not too far from starting to single out schools to visit in the offseason.
