Dallas Skyline Rivals250 linebacker Anthony Wheeler currently holds offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, Alabama, Michigan State, and Oklahoma, and as he begins to set his sights on the spring he is holding strong to his top five.
"It's pretty much still intact," Wheeler said. "It's pretty much the same. I'm just trying to wait to get about three or four more offers and visit other schools also."
Right now Wheeler lists a top five of Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas, and Alabama, with one school at the top of his list.
"OU is standing out right now," Wheeler said. "It was just when I went over there I had a good sync with them, a good connection with the coaches and I got to talk to a few of the former players, and I got to talk to a true freshman who got a lot of playing time. He had a great freshman career. I just liked the process over there."
It should also come as no surprise when three of the schools in his top five are also first to be named as those showing the most attention.
"Right now it's probably been Texas, OU and Baylor," Wheeler said. "They've been hitting me up on Twitter and have been telling me to call them. I've been talking to coach Strong probably about every week and talking to coach Kish from OU on Twitter about every week, and I've been talking with coach Gush from Baylor every week also."
Wheeler is still considering schools outside of his top five. In fact, he hopes to visit a few schools this summer who are currently outside his top five.
"I know for sure I'm going to try and go down to Ole Miss during the summer and Alabama and probably get up to Michigan," Wheeler said.
And as he mentioned he is hoping for a few more offers.
"I'd like a Notre Dame, LSU, and Stanford offer," Wheeler said.
When it comes to a decision, Wheeler is not in a hurry to decide, but he does have a good idea about what he is looking for in a future program.
"My thought process would probably be just a good educational school, a good facility, a good family atmosphere," Wheeler said. "And I'll just see how my family feels about it and how I feel about it, about the coaches and the players welcoming the new freshmen."
