Rivals250 LB Smith set to visit Vandy, Vols

After opening the playoffs with a victory, Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland linebacker Josh Smith is focused on a run to the state championship game. That means recruiting is kind of on the backburner for the 2015 Rivals250 watch list prospect.
"I'm just focusing on the playoffs and getting better day-by-day," Smith said. "I've been hearing from Northwestern, Clemson, Ohio State, USC, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Purdue and Georgia Tech."

The 6-foot-3, 228-pound Smith was recently invited to Tennessee for the Volunteers game against Auburn, but wasn't able to make the trip. He said Vols fans shouldn't take it a slight.
"There's no reason I haven't gone I just haven't made it there yet," Smith said. "I'm planning on making it up there for the Vanderbilt game."
The Vols and the Commodores are two of the schools coming the hardest after Smith. His older brother Emmanuel is a Class of 2014 commit and he said the duo will be visiting this weekend for the Commodores game against Kentucky.
This weekend I'll probably be going to the Vanderbilt game with my family," he said.
Smith and Oakland will face crosstown rival Siegel in the second round of the Class 6A Tennessee State Playoffs.
