Rivals250 LB Smith looking hard at Auburn

Rivals250 linebacker Josh Smith has seen a steady flow of coaches swing by his Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland High School over the past few weeks. In fact, so many have come by that he even struggles to name them all.
"On Friday Ohio State, Auburn, Kentucky and Purdue came by," Smith said. "Vanderbilt and Tennessee have been by as well and a bunch more."

One staff that has been making it a point to keep in contact with Smith as of late is Auburn.
"Auburn wants me to come there pretty bad," Smith said. "They want me to get me on campus so I can sit down and talk with the coaching staff about everything."
With the new interest from the Tigers, Smith is trying to learn more about the program as a whole.
"I don't know a lot but I'm starting to research and look at them further in depth," he said. "They're showing a lot of interest so I'm showing interest back. I can see myself going there so I'm going to go down there and make a visit."
Under coach Gus Malzahn the Tigers have earned quite a reputation for their offensive exploits. But Smith said he thinks he can help the defense raise its profile as well.
"Since their defense isn't well known I can see myself going in and being part of change," said Smith, who is being recruited to play middle linebacker. "I just want an opportunity to start early. If I go there and I don't earn it it's not going to happen and it's my fault but I want that shot."
