Rivals250 linebacker Travis Williams picked up a major offer earlier this week. The 6-foot-2, 202-pounder discussed the latest scholarship and where they stand with the rest of his list.
"Miami offered me a verbal earlier this week," he said. "Miami has always been my dream school coming up. It means a lot to get that offer. I know I'm going to take a visit to Miami probably during the season; I want to get down for a game on an official. I really like Coach Hill too. He's a cool cat."
Does anything else stick out about the Hurricanes?
"I like their speed and the fact they like to play freshmen right away," he stated. "I also recently found out they are a private school with only about 8,000 people so there aren't too many people in class.
"I know they have Spence at linebacker. He came in at about 195-pounds and I'm 202 right now. He's starting now and probably by the time I'd get there he'd be entering the draft which would give me a chance to play right away."
Certainly Williams is impressed with the offer. Has Miami jumped to the top of his list?
"Everything is still the same," he said. "I really like the U, but I'm not going to put them at the top just yet until I get to see the school and see what they have to offer.
"I'm not focusing on any school. I want to enjoy the process and have fun with it."
At this point, Williams has no other visits planned in the near future.
"I have no plans to go anywhere. I want to be with my team and coach this summer."
Williams was a two-way threat for Lake Taylor as a junior where he posted 31 receptions for 500-yards and added 68 tackles, 30 for loss, 15 sacks and two fumble recoveries.
