Rivals250 LB enjoys Penn State official

Rivals 250 linebacker Navorro Bowman took an official visit to Penn State this past weekend. The 6-foot-0, 218-pounder with 4.7-second speed was very impressed with his visit.
"I was hosted by Derrick Williams which was cool, he's a cool guy like everyone up there and I had a good time and liked Penn State a lot," he said. "I got up there Friday and on the first day we talked about the academics. Then on the second day we went through the game day routine and at night we celebrated the win. This morning I met up with coach Paterno and had breakfast. It was a good conversation with coach. I think he's a nice and cool guy. He's a good coach and he had my father and I laughing and everything. He was the first coach I met that wasn't really talking to me about football, but also about their fans. I noticed that their fans give 100% on every play."

The four-star prospect took in the Penn State win over South Florida.
"I saw a lot of mistakes out there, but they played hard and the defense set the tone for the whole game and they came out with the victory," he said. "I got to see what Derrick (Williams) can do out there since he was from my area and he did well and that made the game even better. I feel I can go right in and play with their linebacking core especially since I'm graduating in December."
Did the visit sway Bowman closer to verbally committing to the Nittany Lions?
"I would give the visit an 8.9 and I wish I could have stayed there longer," he said. "I believe their fans are some of the best in the country. All they want to see is football and I liked my visit a lot up there. It did move me closer to committing, but I'm going to take my visits."
Bowman confirmed he is looking at setting up more than his two official visits. Right now, the only other official is scheduled with Virginia Tech on November 4th.
This week the No. 8 prospect in Maryland kicks off the season.
"I had a scrimmage last week against Dunbar and I did well," he said. "The coach didn't want me to play a lot, but I scored on my first run which was about 80 yards. Then seven plays later I scored on a 30-yard run. On defense I had nine tackles. I was very happy with my performance in the time I got."
