The Latest: In today's recruiting environment, it's not unusual for a prospect to make a commitment to one school, only to be on campus at another the next week. But for Rivals250 linebacker Bryton Constantin, the term commitment means that he's not going to entertain other programs going forward. In the two months since pledging to the Tigers, the Louisiana native has stayed loyal to the program and has spent more of his time recruiting other prospects than being recruited by other schools. At the recent Ray Lewis Academy event in Florida, Rivals.com caught up with Constantin to talk about how things are going with Clemson and when he plans on being back on campus.
In His Words:“Things have been good. Everything has slowed down big time since I committed and that was what I was looking for when I made my decision to commit. I was kind of getting overwhelmed by all the schools that were recruiting me and I already knew where I was going so I just shut it down and it’s been going ever since.”
On getting back to campus: "I was supposed to go up this weekend but I came down here to camp instead. I’m going to go back up there in July for a cookout with all the commits and recruits and probably do some recruiting of other guys."
On other programs still reaching out: "Ole Miss is still sending me a few pictures now and then and SMU is too but that’s about it. I’m comfortable with my commitment."
On his relationship with Coach Venables: "It’s great. We still talk almost every day. We talk about football but we also talk about his family and school work and stuff like that. It’s a different relationship that I have with him than with any other coach. We just kind of click."
On his efforts to bring others to Clemson: "I tried to get Cam’ron Kelly but he ended up committing to Virginia Tech. I talk to a few other players. If Coach Venables wants me to talk to them I will hit them up and shoot them a text and try to get them to come to Clemson."
