The recruitment of Rivals250 athlete K'Vaughan Pope has been a bit of a roller coaster ride lately. The Dinwiddie, Va. star seemed like a shoe-in at Ohio State but backed off a potential commitment in favor of additional visits.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

"I delayed my decision so I'm not sure Ohio State is my leader," Pope said. "The coaches keep it real, it's in the city, they have internships, and the coaches are really cool. That's what grabbed my attention. I'll be able to use my speed on defense. I would be an outside linebacker there.

"Coach Meyer and coach Davis have been making a strong effort with me," he said. "They send me everything they do in little videos when they go out. Coach Davis sent me a video just the other day.

"Coach Beamer and Coach Schumann are my guys at Georgia," said Pope. "I'm visiting there this coming weekend. I've never been there before so I'm not sure what to expect. Coach Schumann is a pretty good guy. I've talked to him in person but we haven't had that connection yet. I guess it will get better.

"I'll be at Florida State for a visit. I don't know when yet. It will be a brand-new experience for me. Coach Haggins is recruiting me for them. We haven't really talked that much yet. I don't know whole lot about the program yet."

RIVALS' REACTION

Pope is a big time prospect with plenty of options in front of him. Shane Beamer at Georgia has been in contact with Pope for a long time and has built a good relationship with him. Pope hasn't been to Georgia before so this visit could really shake up his recruitment. Florida State will get a visit from Pope in the not too distant future and, with the success the Seminoles have had in Virginia, it's hard to ever count them out if they can get him on campus. Ohio State is still the favorite to land Pope's commitment but that could all change after these two visits.
